Project Manager (NGO) – Nairobi, Kenya

A non-profit organization, focused on promoting and protecting the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and other forced migrants in Kenya is seeking a to be based in Nairobi. The successful candidate MUST have extensive leadership and management experience and will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the organization, as well as the protection of its financial assets, while ensuring compliance with board directives, as well as applicable donor and government requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Develop a strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission and objectives
  • Provide leadership in programmatic activities through facilitating training
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and address project challenges
  • Ensure timely submission donor reports periodically based on grant agreements
  • Identify favorable financing partners and accordingly develop, submit and follow-up funding proposals
  • Signing all grant agreements and contracts with donors on behalf of the organisation
  • Serve as the chief custodian of the organisation’s documents and assets
  • Convene and chair management team meetings
  • Convene Board meetings and act as secretary thereof
  • Oversee the organization’s operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.

Qualifications

  • Must have bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in law, political science, development studies, human rights, communication, or other fields related to the job. Postgraduate qualification in management preferred
  • Must have at least 10 years’ experience in a leadership position from a non-profit organisation
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution at a senior level
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management
  • Knowledge of public relations principles and practices, including ability to represent the organization publicly
  • Should have professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Should be able and willing to travel locally and internationally.

Salary: Monthly Gross Salary: Ksh. 370,000/= (Approx. 2620. USD) plus car, family medical cover
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (with travel in Kenya and once a year to Europe)
