A Kenyan-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) is currently seeking an for it’s programs; providing strong leadership, legal aid, ‘fund raising, advocacy, and awareness for the organization. The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing the overall management and operation of the organisation, as well as protecting its financial assets, while ensuring compliance with the directives of the board and relevant donor and government requirements. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with travel within Kenya.
Key Requirements
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, help funding and address any project challenges
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance the mission and objectives of the entire organization (50+ employees)
- Provide outstanding leadership across programmatic activities by facilitating training
- Sign grant agreements and contracts with donors on behalf of the organisation
- Convene and chair management team meetings with Board
- Serve as the link between the Board and staff and ensure timely implementation
- Oversee the organisation’s operations to ensure efficient, quality, and cost-effective management of resources.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 7 years of experience in a leadership position, in an NGO
- Experience in strategic planning and execution at a senior level.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
- Familiarity with public relations principles and practices, including the ability to represent the organisation publicly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally.
